In December last year our staff at the Sacred Valley hotel in Cusco spotted a small female Andean white-tailed deer, calling out from the edge of the property. It was alone and there was no sign of its mother, which had probably fallen victim to a hunter, according to the villagers.
Our team could not leave abandoned this defenseless animal, which was showing signs of malnutrition. They rescued the deer and after a few weeks Bambi, as it was affectionately known, recovered and became the favorite pet of everyone who works at the hotel. It is now a young fawn and is growing strong and healthy with us, sharing the gardens with alpacas and the other animals that live at the hotel. Always there to delight guests, Bambi adds a touch of tenderness to our Sacred Valley hotel.
