The Blue Whale Foundation (FBA) launches “Peru Country of Whales" supported by Vichayito Bungalows & Tents Aranwa, in order to promote the study, conservation and tourism of observation of these species.
In Peru, humpback whales travel to the north of the country during the months of August to October, from Antarctica and may be seen on beaches as Vichayito in the department of Piura.
Carlos Lau Guzman, founding president of the FBA, said: "Thanks to the support and funding of Vichayito Hotel Bungalows and Tents, from the Aranwa Hotels Chain, we can give to the people some information about the annual migration of humpback whales and where they can be observed."
Found in all the oceans of the world, humpback whales undertake annual migrations of thousands of kilometers, from feeding grounds in polar waters during the summer, to breeding areas close to the tropics in winter, said biologist Cortegana Arias Davis, scientific director of the FBA.
The campaign will be launched this August 22nd to October 28th and will be receiving FBA volunteers for this purpose.
