Climate:
In Cusco, the weather is cold and dry for most of the year, however people can distinguish two main seasons: the rainy season from November to March and the dry season from April to October. Throughout the year, the temperature is quite pleasant during the day, but nights can be very cold. We recommend packing warm clothes and comfortable shoes (especially those with rubber soles).
Acclimatization:
Since Cusco is over 3,000 meters above sea level, the rapid ascent from the coast, may cause some discomforts such as headaches, difficulty breathing and nausea. This is known as "altitude sickness" or "mountain sickness." These reactions occur as a result of low oxygen pressure that exists at high altitudes. If these pains are not taken into account, people may need medical assistance.
Before traveling it is advisable to drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals, and avoid heavy physical exercise upon arrival. It is also advisable to drink coca tea and rest a few hours before starting a tour or exercise. Another factor that relieves the discomfort caused by height is oxygen. Breathing 20 or 30% more oxygen, removes fatigue and headache immediately. Rooms at Aranwa Cusco Coutique Hotel are equipped with oxygen supplement system for the well-being of guest.
What to pack
This is a major issue. Cusco has different types of weather during the same day. Pack comfortable clothes including a jacket or coat for cold nights. Don´t forget your camera, binoculars, sun block & mosquito repellant.
Currency:
The official currency is Nuevo Sol (PEN) divided into 100 centimos (cents). Visa is the most widely accepted credit card, but all major international credit cards, including Diners Club, American Express and MasterCard, are accepted in many, but not all, establishments. US Dollars are the easiest currency to exchange, and many restaurants, hotels and shops in the main cities accept dollars for payment.
Telephone calls
Within Peru, when making international calls, dial 00 + country code + city code + telephone number. For inter-city calls: 0 + city code + telephone number. Public telephones accept coins and cards, which can be bought in kiosks and supermarkets.
The Staff team in Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel has in-depth local knowledge and expertise to personally assist you throughout your visit, rising to every challenge and exceeding expectations.
